This is the highest form of wealth and the goal I want to strive for. Money’s greatest intrinsic value is it’s ability to give you control over your time. I heard this in a review of the book “The psychology of money”.
I would say I am partially close to this. I wake up around 4:30 am every morning and then go through my routine of practicing presence and journaling. Then I start working and researching on my passion projects for a couple of hours. This is closely related to not trading time for money.
Some other parts of the book review I like:
“Don’t strive for Riches. Strive for Independence, which means you only do work you enjoy with people you enjoy.”
This one is important as well. Make sure you are working with people you enjoy working with and that you are learning from them. I would say this one can be hard to do at times as you can’t control everyone who works at your company. But what can we do to improve this? Maybe change the relationship by having more fierce conversations.
“There are many things we can’t control, but we can control our personal savings rate.”
Good practical common sense there. Something we should be aware of. I would review this on a personal dashboard on a weekly basis.
I have not read the book, but just reading those nuggets has accelerated my learnings in life.
