I’m waking up too often at night

I noticed I have been waking up many time during the night, sometimes up to 10 times. Fortunately, I still fall back asleep, but I notice the quality is not as good. I don’t know what is going on here, but it tells me I need to do 3 things:

  • Go back to focus on sleep, take a short break from research and slow down a bit.
  • Do more meditation. I paused it the past month or so and it didn’t seem to have an effect. The meditation helps me to practice not mind wandering and thinking. This is extremely helpful for when I do wake up in the middle of the night, I don’t go back to thinking negative thoughts and instead quickly fall back asleep
  • I need to do more exercise, I have been exercising, but very sporadically.

Ideally I don’t make a bunch of changes concurrently so that I can know exactly why this is happening. Just the strong mindset to work on this could be the reason why it improves versus some change in process. I notice it may be some pressure from work. I actively work on not letting myself to feel stressed, is it still sneaking in? I am grateful that my sleep is overall maintainable, I just need to keep it as a priority and constantly monitor it in case it falls out of line.
